One can’t possibly speak about original South African fashion labels without mentioning the icon that is Life by Andre Martin. I practically grew up on this novel brand. When I made a decision to marry fashion, I imagined Life by Andre Martin as one of our witnesses. (okay, cue dramatic vibez) It is no wonder I vibrated with uncontrollable excitement, when Andre re-launched a major comeback to the runway last year. At the recent #MBFWJ2013 Life upped their previous sports luxe range. They took it to the streets and they kept the gritty, bold, raw and iconic elements of the brand. All these were very evident in the items walked down the runway. Think unenforced expressionism, marriages of beautifully referenced styles with newer techniques in fabric usage. Emblem prints alongside must-have pieces. My absolute crush is how Life worked the dungaree in every manner imagined in the streets. I couldn’t find a perfect one until this collection presented some printed, some studded, some washed out, some awash with paint streaks and some solid, providing the wearer with infinite styling possibilities. I want them all… okay maybe the studded black number! *drops to my knees*
Here you have it folks, according to my number one go-to labels of all times, the dungaree shall reign handsomely. I fully agree!
