MJ AND STUFF STREET STYLE MBFWJ2013

Trends dictated by street style stars at the MBFWJ2013 held an exceptionally stylish ground alongside lessons from the runway. The boys brought so hard claiming a position afore the well threaded lot. These are only a few strong movements as initiated by fellow lovers of grand style!

THE PERSONALITY PRINT:

It is a known fact that each fashion season brings with it a print of sorts and before we know it, the industry spits and shreds the heck out of the poor thing in anticipation for the next. The currently lauded print knows no frame and as worn by these dudes here, it is a classic case of understanding one’s proportions, carefully styling any sort of print to fit in your wardrobe. Not the other way around. Go on then, let your printed freak flag fly. I know I will.

THE MADE-UP SUIT.

You know I know the importance of a good suit in everyone’s wardrobe. Testimony to my further belief that a good suit doesn’t really have to be bought together at once, these guys are serving a type of vibe laden with styling tricks. Whether one goes for a monochrome feel, opts for some retro fluid tailoring or flirts with the shorts suit. The made-up suit is really about sensibly matching one’s clothing. That’s all.

THE CONVERSATION ITEM.

I have always believed in the power of at least one conversation item in everyone’s daily gear-up. Thankfully, South African men are totally catching on and with so much ease; they breathe chat worthy clothing into their wardrobes. This should always be executed in a tasteful manner to keep one far from looking like a yard sale mascot on a really bad day. The trend is NOT for the fainthearted and requires a giant personality to pull off.

As expected, there has at least one person who rattles fashion’s skimpy bones and fills its tender heart with all kinds of hope. For me, it was a bloke who introduced himself as Da-BlaQ-Moss. I loved that his daily looks were not overconfident and shows in his skill to re-style similar garments over-and-over using bygone prints as his starting point. And the overall best part; he is a Bachelor of Pharmacy student and his affair with fashion is solely driven by passion. He is totes, one to keep an eye on.
