MYVIBE: DISCOVERING THE JanSport FREEDOM

Mahlatse James MJ AND STUFF x JanSport 01

I love going on about my business –as one often does in these fashioning streets- and suddenly realise the awesomeness of my surrounding, which will of course propel me to take full advantage of a situation. Stuff a stylopolitan’s dreams are made of.  I had a moment with my JanSport® backpack, just the other day.

These pics below are an upshot of yet another one of my preferred Sunday afternoon drives with an aim to meet whatever links day to dusk so speedily. Cheesy? Methinks not.  If anything, this could very well match some other pretty cool well-run camo stories; coming together to handsomely juxtapose my street style reality. I mean, one can’t help but think about the print’s history, its utilitarian relevance and the rendering feature of a backpack stunning as it is practical.

I could have completely clashed and contrasted this print against any-and-everything to claim a heavily spirited vibe or even muted it down alongside a single tint. Instead, I thought it a good idea to step up to my JanSport® bagpack and coordinate a look that is mono-tonal in intent and not running short of details that articulate the brand’s authentic and Iconic status.

#WCW: STYLIN’ THE FUSE ACADEMY TALENT

Mahlatse James x DJ Zinhle x Previdar

You simply cannot have missed this one. Delightfully splashed across all of the interwebs and social media canals alike; it is all about DJ Zinhle’s FUSE Academy celebrating six years in the business of holding high the banner of female Disk Jocks. As part of the revels, the company thought of me as the stylist to work with for this campaign. Fitting, seeing that we have a rather wonderful relationship built over the years. I suppose one can even claim that we have come somewhere near a full circle and an opportunity to team up for something this great, was well overdue.

You don’t need me to tell you that the result is all sorts of phenomenal and as far as the Woman-Crush-Wednesday hashtag is concerned; the social media circles are widening beyond belief. The series of gorgeous images (even if I have to say so myself) was photographed by the incredibly talented Lawrence Manyapelo are published on www.previdar.com portraying FUSE Academy’s talent in the most stylish of fronts.

REAL + SIMPLE: IMPORTANT INGREDIENTS FOR ACCURATE STYLE.

Mahlatse James wearing Real + Simple jeans MJ AND STUFF

One’s hunt for a perfect pair of jeans is never ending. #Never. I for one have completely submitted myself to this quest and of course having all the fun known to mankind whilst adding to a very versatile collection. I am not one to claim to know much about jeanpants, as a matter of fact, I am at peace with the realisation that I do not know nearly as much as I probably should despite almost always reading up on updated cuts and fits and washes. The only “system” I seem to consider before acquiring a new pair has very basic conditions; one: would I be able to integrate them into my already existing wardrobe? Two: Will my thighs appear exceptionally amazing? Three: How many washes would it take before the pair looses complete character and stand a chance to fade into the linen-esque vibe? This very important pep talk happens with every pair that makes it into my closet. That said, my newest pair brought with an interesting perspective for me, so to say. REAL+SIMPLE is my ultimate new obsession. Not only is the denim brand dealing locally crafted premium items, the striking edge comes in a form of the ever unfolding allure of raw denim. I prefer to wear my pair of slim cuts in a bit if a loose fit -because roomier jeans are everything to me right now and I am fully taking advantage of all the styling options which is why I am totally crazy about the Selvedge detail I so smugly show off whenever I carelessly fold-up the hemlines. Totally unique and full of personality.

WHAT KATE DID NEXT.

Kate Moss stars in a Alexander McQueen Spring Summer 2014 Campaign

Am I the only one who imagines that most of these start-up models popping out of everywhere must chant to themselves “What Would Kate Do”, whenever tasked with a fresh photo shoot? I know that would have definitely been my theme, should I dare try to flirt with an occupation paved by the likes of the charming Miss Moss. Kate has fronted many campaigns across all possible spheres of fashion and just when one would imagine that such force could run out, she stars in HER FIRST Alexander McQueen campaign photographed by Steven Klein, for their all so grand Spring/ Summer 2014 collection. Remember when I elatedly took to the social media and lauded Sarah Burton’s demonstration of an informed fashion warrior of the future? Those golden helmets still slice my heart strings but I love that in this campaign, Kate Moss rocks a cropped hair-do in a rusty yellow gold shade. I don’t really have the insight as to how the team was briefed prior conducting this shoot but in my head, I have decided that the purpose of this matching small doll clutched in hand by Lady Miss Moss signifies that even though everything else appears to echo optimal strength, there is a confident measure of playfulness in every gal’s existence.

At 40 years old, the super model still fortifies an indubitable connection to one of her home country’s first-rate labels. Lee would have been so proud. Love Kate. Love her work.
